Colorado Ski And Snowboarding The Inside Edge

Colorado Ski And Snowboarding The Inside Edge

Now that we are starting to see the weather change, it is time to start really planning for the snow.  In Colorado, as we all know skiing and snowboarding are extremely popular activities.  For all of our new members of the Denver community who have moved during the past few months, here is everything you need to know to take advantage of the top resorts this winter.

Before you hit the slopes, it is important to understand the different options that exist regarding ski passes.  When looking to take advantage of the different mountain resorts that we have in Colorado it is important to consider combining pass packages so you can get the most value for your money.  With multiple options out there, depending how far from Denver you want to go, common multi mountain passes include the Rocky Mountain Super Pass+ and the Colorado Ski Country USA Gold Pass.  It is important to take in to account how much skiing will be done during the season and also how far you want to travel.  For example the Gold Pass is expensive, at just over $3,000, however it is good for 20 resorts in Colorado and is fully transferable.  So for the die-hard snow enthusiasts this can be a good deal.  If you are more of the recreational ski/snowboarder looking into the Rocky Mountain Super Pass+ will get you access to Winter Park, Copper Mountain, and Eldora for around $600.    Check out the links for more information on the different passes.

As the ski season begins, it is highly recommended that you check out the below, highly rated ski resorts close to Denver.

Copper Mountain- Copper Mountain is famous for its naturally divided terrain that has distinct sections of trails for all skill levels.  The resort provides visitors with spectacular views and world-class facilities.   Located in Summit County, about 75 miles west of Denver, Copper Mountain is a Colorado favorite.  The resorts is also home to Woodward at Copper, which is an indoor freestyle training facility that is open to the public.  In addition to the ski and snowboarding, Copper Mountain includes numerous activities including zip-lines, snowmobiling, and other outdoor adventure.

Winter Park- Winter Park Resort is a Colorado favorite located about 67 miles northwest of Denver. Originally built by the city of Denver as a winter park for its residents, Winter Park Resort has continually operated since 1939. The ski area is known for being a very family friendly resort and has terrain for all ability types. Winter Park contains over 3,000 skiable acres that span across two distinct mountains and is home to a majority of beginner and intermediate trails. Mary Jane Mountain is home to amazing tree skiing, world-class moguls, and wide open alpine bowls. The resort contains modern amenities with an extensive well developed trail system.  The village base contains multiple lodging, dining and shopping options.

Arapahoe Basin- Arapahoe Basin sits high along Loveland Pass in Summit County, Colorado and home to great steep skiing, long groomers and a friendly vibe that welcomes guests of all ability levels. The ski area has been in operation since the winter of 1946 and is continually one of the first resorts to open and one of the last to close. Located approximately 60 miles from Denver, the mountain is a great option for skiers traveling from the Front Range, and with 109 different runs there a plethora of options for all difficulties.
