With Fall Comes Halloween And With Halloween Comes Haunted Houses And Pumpkin Patches

With Fall Comes Halloween and with Halloween Comes Haunted houses and Pumpkin Patches!

We live in great place with a lot of fun fall activities. Pumpkin patches and Haunted Houses are some of the fun things we like to take the kids to do. Lucky for us Colorado has an abundance of both! I thought I would help you out by listing a few around the Denver Metro Area.

Colorado Pumpkin Patch came highly recommended. They offer all sorts of activities fun for kids and adults. They have pony rides for the little ones, a kids straw maze, duck races and wagon rides for all ages. On select Saturdays they have live Bluegrass bands playing. One of their biggest hits is the blindfolded golf cart maze, because who wants to walk around a corn maze when you can drive blind folded through one!!! Sounds like a great time. Their brand new location is in Larkspur, CO and the cost for this day of fun is $7 for adults and children during the week and $7 for adults and $9 for children on the weekends. Check out their website for more information at http://coloradopumpkinpatch.net/. They are only opened until Halloween so plan your trip soon!

Flat Acres Farm in Parker  is another pumpkin patch worth checking out. It is one of Douglas County’s newest locally owned and operated family farms. They have a corn maze, hay rides, face painting, bounce houses petting zoo and so much more. Pick your own pumpkins for a very reasonable price. The best part for some is after dark they have Reapers Hollows Haunted Maze! Everybody loves a fun scare around Halloween. Come quick before it closes! Reapers Hollow is open from 7-10 on select days in Oct and the Farm is opened from 10am-6 until Nov 2nd. The cost for the farm is $13 for 3-12 yr olds and $11 for 12 and up. Definitely check out their website at http://www.flatacresfarm.com for more information.

Miller Farms has a harvest festival going on right now until mid Nov. It is a great place to go; in fact we went there today with my daughter’s class for a field trip. The kids had a blast! There was a great play area that had swings, a petting zoo area, and a giant jumping balloon. The best part about it was the hay ride to the different fields where the kids got to pick their own, onions, carrots, corn, and pumpkins. They got to learn all about farming and enjoyed every second! For the people who enjoy a good scare they have the Haunted Adventure as well.  Haunted Adventure happens nightly at dark and runs through Oct, 31st. It cost $10 per person and only $5 per person if you paid for the harvest festival and stay through the evening. Half of their proceeds this year are going to the Colorado flood victims. Check out their website at http://www.millerfarms.net.

Now for the Haunted Houses! Located in Westminster, one of Colorado’s oldest haunted houses and voted #1 by Colorado for the past 30 years is, The Frightmare Compound. Not for the weak of heart the dead are on the move, lurking around every corner. Watch out for the zombies and creatures in the cornfield and swamplands. You will also experience the supernatural and unnatural in the authentic, haunted barn.  If you are brave enough and ready for a scare this is the place to go. Check out their website at http://www.thefrightmarecompound.com.

The 13th Floor is one of Denver’s scariest haunted houses. The videos creeped me out! MTV voted this one the scariest haunted house in Colorado. Located in downtown Denver  just off the I-70 and Brighton Blvd. The haunted house actually takes place on the 13th floor of the building but the show starts as you’re waiting in line. Be prepared to be scared! Good luck making it through, every 113th person to make it through gets their money back. (The price of general admission) Probably not the best haunted house for young children due to the graphic nature. Check out their website at http://www.13thfloorhauntedhouse.com.

The last one I will talk about is The Asylum, featured on the Travel Channel’s show America’s Scariest Halloween Attractions. This one has been completely redesigned for the 2013 season. So it will be brand new for all of you that have been there before! This one is also located in Denver on 39th Ave. Created by the creators of the 13th floor. The Asylum features all new up-close and in-your face frights. Please check out their website at http://www.asylumdenver.com for their address and pricing.
Denver has many more pumpkin patches and haunted houses to offer, these are just a few.

Whichever you decide be it the safe pumpkin patches or the terrifying haunted houses have fun and be safe this Halloween season!
