Moving to a new state can be a fun yet daunting task. It takes time to acclimate to the new environment and to adjust to different regional cultural norms. If you are planning to move to Colorado this
summer, here’s something to consider when looking at Denver real estate that may be different from your area.
What do you mean
there’s no AC!?!?!
If you are moving to Denver from a warm southern state, you may not even
think about asking if a home has air conditioning. In Denver, we have the luxury of living with four seasons
and a very conducive climate for living with our windows open during the
spring, summer and fall. However, when
the peak summer season hits, retreating into central air conditioning is a much
desired option. In our market, central air conditioning did not become a big
selling feature until the early-2000s. So a lot of homes do not have central
air conditioning. If the home you are considering does not have air
conditioning, be sure to get a quote from a qualified HVAC technician. The cost to install later could surprise you
and could require some electrical upgrades as well. One alternative to air conditioning is an evaporative
cooler; aka swamp cooler. I know the name
does not sound appealing but it is a viable alternative to air conditioning. This type of system cools air through the
evaporation of water and works well in our dry, low humidity climate. The cost of installation and maintenance is
lower than traditional central air conditioning. For the month of March, I will be blogging about the unique real
estate features of moving to Denver. If you

Denver Digs Trees Earth Day Tree Sale! Don't miss it!!Apr 21 2018 - Ap
"We worked with Karen Venier for a relatively short time for a good reason: our home sold at full price within hours of hitting the market! While it’s true that the Denver housing market is “hot,” credit for the speed and ease of our transaction belongs to Karen. She was great to work with, giving us perfect advice about readying our home for sale and then expertly guiding us from offer to close. Along the way, we came to appreciate Karen for her skillful blend of professionalism and personal touches – like dropping off our favorite beverages during a particularly stressful time in our move or shoveling our driveway in subzero temps after we’d left the state (way beyond the call of duty!). Now that we’ve relocated to Wisconsin, we keep saying that we wish Karen could be our buyer’s agent here. Since that’s not possible, we’ll shout her name loudly to whoever might be looking for a home in the Denver area.
Thanks for the great work, Karen!
