Are you looking for a great place to donate toys to or
volunteer your time during this holiday season?
There are so many wonderful organizations in the Denver
Metro area designed to make sure no child goes without this Christmas. I will
be listing a few that have been around many years and have helped the community
out in more way than I could list in this short blog.
The first one I would like to share with you is, The Denver Santa Clause
Shop. They are a volunteer-run nonprofit organization. Their
mission is that every child should have a toy on Christmas. They are believed
to be the longest, continuously-running charity of its kind in the U.S. They
have been in business for 83 years. They are Denver’s largest annual toy drive
during the holiday season. Every year they set up a giant “toy store” for
parents who are referred from social services, enabling them to shop and select
toys for their children. They rely on hundreds of volunteers each year and any
monetary donations are used to buy new toys. What an amazing organization to be
a part of. If you would like to organize
your own toy drive for them, donate some toys or make a monetary donation just
visit their site at http://www.denversantaclausshop.org. The next one I’m sure you have all heard of is Toys for Tots. Toys for Tots has been a charitable program for the past 65
years, and is run by the U.S Marine Corps. There are local drop off locations
all over Denver, just click on this link to find a location close to you http://aurora-co.toysfortots.org/local-coordinator-sites/lco-sites/default.aspx. They are requesting all donations be dropped
off or submitted online before the 16th of December, so they can
distribute them before Christmas. If you are interested in starting you own toy
drive for them just visit their website at http://www.toysfortots.org/. Denver Rescue Mission is the last one I want to talk about.
I have mentioned them before in previous blogs. They are a wonderful
organization and shelter. Over 900 people this year will spend their holidays
at one of their 7 shelters located across the state. They provide a safe
environment for people that need a warm meal or a place to stay. There are
various ways to get involved
with them. They are always in need of volunteers, food donations or monetary
donations. Just a $1.92 will provide Christmas dinner for someone that wouldn’t
otherwise have one. Just visit their website to learn how you can make a
